FAQs

When should a puppy have their first groom?
Puppies are welcome to have their first groom around 12 weeks old when they have completed all their vaccinations and are comfortable enough to be introduced to new environments. The first groom helps them get used to different sounds and smells. They are introduced gently to ensure future appointments are less stressful.
How often should my dog be groomed? What are the benefits?

Most dogs need grooming every 4–8 weeks, depending on their breed and coat type. Longer or curly coats usually need grooming more regularly to keep them comfortable and mat-free. Short-coated breeds may only need a tidy-up and bath every couple of months.

Regular professional grooming at Honey Paws offers numerous health and well-being benefits to your dog. It helps prevent painful matting and skin issues, keeps nails at a healthy length to avoid foot problems and allows early detection of lumps, bumps and parasites. Professional dog grooming also ensures you dogs coat is clean, healthy and manageable, which contributes to their comfort and happiness. Furthermore, it reduces shedding in your home and keeps your dog smelling fresh and looking at their best.

What do I need to bring to my first grooming appointment?
Please bring any relevant health or behaviour information such as skin sensitivities or past grooming issues, along with your dog’s usual collar and lead. You will be asked to complete a short information card which can be updated at future visits if needed. The first appointment may take slightly longer to allow your dog to adjust to the new environment. Please ensure your dog has had a toilet break before the appointment.

How long will my dog’s appointment take?

Please contact us for a more accurate timescale

What if my dog is matted?
Severe matting can be uncomfortable for dogs. Clipping the coat short may be the kindest option and heavily matted coats may incur an additional charge. A disclaimer will need to be signed.
How much will it cost?
Pricing varies depending on breed, hair length, coat condition, matting, temperament, age and grooming history. An accurate price will be provided during consultation. Please refer to the pricing guide on the services page for an estimate.
Do you groom nervous or anxious dogs?
Yes. Grooming is carried out calmly on a one-to-one basis with breaks and reassurance as needed. Please inform us if your dog is anxious so extra time can be allowed. Bringing a favourite toy or treat may also help.
